Kereru, New Zealand Pigeon by jyokota

Kereru, New Zealand Pigeon

Walking in the Kauri Forest among extraordinary tall trees, we turned a corner and saw . . . a New Zealand pigeon, a Kereru! They are large, beautiful birds, and this one was eating the leaves on the tree.

LR story of the day: In Aperture, I would have used the polarizer brush. In LR, Taffy coached me on using the brush to up the contrast, and she fixed the bottom right corner using Textures.
So beautiful!

And 'hi' to you Mr. Bird! (or Ms. Bird)! I like your jaunty smile and that you look like you are talking with me!

Beautiful shot of our Native Kereru.. they can be such clumsy birds.. they pig out on berries and then get 'drunk' and stumble and crash their way around the bush.. I had a friend who had one crash through a very large window and land on her computer...

@julzmaioro -- @Taffy and I are just cackling over your description and story over here! I thought they made a lot of noise because of their weight making the branches bend. Little did I know they could get drunk!

What a beauty! I love Julia's @julzmaioro story - so funny! Not sure I understand what Taffy did with Textures but it worked! Fav!

A really nice image to show off his colours. Their feathers are so lovely when the light is catching them.
