@gamelee --I tried and tried and tried -- straightening, cropping, adjusting perspective, etc. Do you know exactly how to do it without losing the design of the wake? The banks of the isthmus are extremely narrow and deep. I finally decided that maybe that was what was causing the shadowing.
@jyokota This is how I do it. I still use PS CS4, so you make have to work it out depending which photo editing software you use. I open my image in PS and on the menu bar choose, select - all. This selects the image and places marching ants around it, then, menu bar, edit - transform - distort. On the image there will now be square selection points placed around the image. I select the top left or right square by placing the cursor over the square. Then, while holding down the mouse button drag the image to what I think looks suitable. I then do the same on the opposite side. This can sometimes squash objects/subjects in the image, so I choose either the top or bottom centre square and stretch the image a little. When I'm happy with the result I save it.
@islambad@casablanca@lenanau@henrir@gamelee@pamknowler@agedrunner@julzmaioro@blueberry1222@swagman@allie912@helenhall@jgpittenger@golftragic@777margo -- thank you for your comments and favs! The boat was moving quickly and I shot from an angle at a distance @gamelee helped me straighten it but I did lose some of the wake behind . . . a trade off, I guess. So thankful for this warmly supportive community in 365. I'm taking my first solo vacation and decided on a photography tourism/workshop in Athens since I have to be here for work next week and my plane ticket was already covered. @Taffy challenged me to post one photo a day -- and I'll try to do that.
@jyokota having seen the before, and after straightening - the difference is interesting. The first gives a great sense of the depth of the canal and so it is more contextualised, whereas this one is more artistically pleasing (and I love it all the more for that). I guess it depends on your purpose in the photograph. I look forward to seeing more from your vacation. Well done - very brave.
Wonderful photo Junko! And great that you decided to take a vacation. Greece is one of my favourite places and I'm sure you will enjoy it. I too will be eager to see your pictures! Fav
