Osechi Ryouri, Japanese in America Style

My Get-Pushed Partner, Martine @3sixty5 said, "For your challenge I would love to see an image that shows something of a new years celebration in your mixed anglo asian culture."

We are lucky to live near a Japanese supermarket where we can get many things for the special celebration, but certainly not everything and only in limited quality and quantity. But we do what we can. Each little part of each dish has significance: http://en.rocketnews24.com/2013/01/03/【japanese-culture】the-meaning-behind-osechi-ryori-traditional-new-years-food-in-japan/

This year, @gabberwocky had invited friends over and she made many of the dishes you see here, and we added some non-New Year's dishes that we thought might appeal to the American guests.

Thanks for the challenge, Martine! Well timed.

@3sixty5 -- thanks for the challenge!

Oh wow what a festive dish! And so interesting to read about all the significances. I wish you for 2014 all the fortune that your dish representates.
