Standing and talking to Taffy when we noticed the boat coming towards the bridge we were on. Quickly put my camera into Auto, leaned my tripod (legs were folded up to leave) against the bridge with no time to setup, and surprise!
It's a superb image and what a great lesson that we can all learn from - putting the camera into Auto without a second thought got you a perfect image that you would have otherwise missed.
Thank you all for your wonderfully supportive comments! Domenico, I had a chuckle over the implication that the decision to do this was genius. But as Richard says, we can all learn from what Auto setting can do in a pinch! I had no time to think, except, "I have to capture this." Be sure to take a look at Taffy's photo taken just before mine, which shows why the water ripples in this photo are red and white. In fact, that "circle reflection" was what drew us to the scene. Thanks again! http://365project.org/taffy/365/2016-12-02
Good reminder to use Auto when in a hurry to catch the shot. The more I look at this shot, the better I like it. And my starting point was to like it very much.
