bird feet by kali66

bird feet

a masterpiece of engineering

unfortunately they were too tiny to fend off our murderous cat.
this is a fantastic photo - I hope the owner of said feet wasn't a pet!

What a fabulous photograph. Such a shame that your murderous cat is like our murderous cat. I'm going to Fav it though.

A murderous cat simply drives me "Nuts"!!

@genesis_one tell me about it! she catches rats and mice and the odd stoat, so I know we need her around and then she takes out the birds I have been watching and photographing in my garden and my heart breaks for the poor little things. I manage to rescue some of them, but I read that cat's saliva infects any wounds.

@ridley i think it may have been a little grey warbler, so tiny. so defenseless

Oh sad. But oh wow! I took "tasteful" photos of a dead bird on my desk..focusing on the beauty of the feathers. I wish I had thought to shoot his feet/talons! this really is amazing engineering! This is amazing! fav!

Great shot. This reminds me of an illustration in a bird book. Too bad about the bird's encounter with your cat.

If you want to give any of the alive but wounded birds a better shot, you could try putting some betadine (it's like iodine, you can get it at feed stores or possibly from a vet's office) on the wounds before letting them go again - will help prevent infection.
Nice shot, too! :)

@cassiadawn oh thankyou Dawn, I will keep that in mind :)

Your right with the engineering.....looks like aliens movie
June 16th, 2013
Great photo! Really illustrates the connection between birds and dinosaurs. Sad, though, about the poor bird's demise.

Those talons look like lethal weapons! Too bad they weren't enough defense. I like the way you processed this shot.

Oh wow this is amazing, you got so much detail!!!

Fantastic Kali! They almost look metallic! They are indeed a masterpiece of engineering! That's one reason I don't care for cats!
