Back to panning. Let me tell you the shooting cars was a breeze compared to the cyclists. But i'm not complaining, these guys had about 120 more kilometers to ride. So my disappointment at not getting the ultimate panning shot was nothing compared to theirs if they failed to finish before the cut off time!

@grizzlysghost Thanks Aaron. It was quite hard but these bikers gave me the perfect reason to try it!
@myautofocuslife Thanks. It was quite an amazing day here in Port. These athletes are pretty awesome.

@triciaodonnell That was my plan. Didn't work in 90 percent of shots ...oh well!
@sugarmuser @marieooi @nikkic Thankyou. I really need to practice this technique more, but on the whole I was really pleased with this shot...it was just the other 200...
@lynne3804 Thanks Lynne. They were really speeding by me. By the time they finnished the bike leg they were walking like cripples..but then they had a 40 km marathon to run. Crazy dudes!

Fabulous capture, Karen ....love the action and the movement!!

@groovygirlrn Thanks Sheri there was a lot of action in town over 1500 athletes!
@roy Thanks I find this technique so hard to do well so I was reasonably happy with this attempt!
@redpants Oh and there was about 200 other riders that were a blur!
@pawar_ramesh Thankyou. Racing by the ocean!
@pjonas Well yes Patty I thought it was a valient effort. I never thought about the radar gun thing. Could be a good way to slow down traffic!
@karenann Thanks so much. It was a great day yesterday. So much action and excitement. I saw a few crippled athletes nursing their wounds in town today!

@ellimae This is only the 3rd time I have tried it and the second was the day before so I could practice for todays bike leg of the Iron man! I find it really hard to get the shutter speed just right for the speed of the subject and then you have to move the camera at a steady rate also.....Way too much to think of at once, but the results can be great if you pull it off! I was quite please with this one but let me tell you the other 200 were not so good.
@bobbyj Thanks. It sure is a hard technique and I made the classic novice mistake by ending up with a full memory card. Yikes!

Great shot. Real movement and so light, it could come of from the ground.

Nice! I've never done this successfully yet!

Awesome panning shot! Perfect focus!

@ankesudfield Yep they were flying by!
@pictureitbig It is so hard. I took that many shots that were just a blur. I think I got about 15 out of 200!
@orangecrush Thanks. I was pretty pleased with this one. Felt sorry for the riders having to do 180kms!
