This door and window combination leads to an empty building adjacent to the old Esmond Mills - now the Benny's Warehouse. I'm fascinated by doorways and window frames, especially when they show age and decay. I really wasn't sure what I wanted to do with this one when I shot it, but the faded colors in both the window panes and in the door itself screamed for a photo. Unlike other shots, I didn't run this one through an HDR filter. Rather, I used a series of overlays to bring out the depth of the colors. Isolating the brickwork from the door and window, I adjusted the levels and saturation on each component separately. The same is true for a series of photo filters. A very soft sandstone texture was added using a 40% soft light overlay.
