No Exit by kannafoot

No Exit

This boardwalk is next to the boat ramp at Bold State Park in Riverside. The end of the boardwalk is enclosed, so at least heading towards the river, there truly is no exit. The shot, the cloudy sky, and the gloomy day were all appropriate given that some 80 colleagues were given layoff notices at work today. It was hard finding the motivation to get out for a photo knowing that a number of my friends were impacted. Tough day.

The depth of field in the shot was intentional. I really did want the beginning and end of the walk to be blurred like that, symbolizing a fuzzy past, the crystal clear present, and an unknown future. Post processing started with a detail medium filter in Topaz Adjust. The black and white conversion was done with a gradient map in color blend mode. I then added a layer adjustment followed by a sepia photo filter.
