Defending the Bridge

The Artillery Company of Newport, chartered in 1741 by King George II of Great Britain, lined the Pawtuxet River Bridge in Warwick as part of today's Gaspee Days celebration. The Company served with distinction throughout the early history of the United States, starting with the French and Indian Wars (known as the Seven Years War in Europe) and continuing through the American Revolution, the War of 1812, the First Battle of Bull Run in the Civil War, and in the Spanish American War. The museum currently run by the Artillery Company includes numerous artifacts from the Revolution, including items from Paul Revere and George Washington. The Gaspee Day celebration continues tomorrow with the annual burning of the H.M.S. Gaspee - the act that started the American Revolution.

Post processing started with a brilliant cold filter in Topaz Adjust. I then adjusted adaptive exposure and contrast. A levels adjustment was added in PSE.
