Ready to Row

I stopped at Bold Point Park on my way home from work today. The timing was fortuitous since the Brown University Crew picked that time to carry their sculls from the boathouse to the dock. Several crews had already put-in and in today's photo you see two more getting ready. The weather was damp, chilly, and threatening to rain, and the crew were heading upstream against the tide. Today's workout promised to be a challenge.

Post processing started with a classic filter in Topaz B&W FX. I then adjusted color sensitivity sliders, adaptive exposure, contrast, regions, boost black, boost white, and protect highlights. A levels adjustment was added in PSE and I did some minor editing to remove a couple of distractions that weren't a vital part of the scene.

Here's the high res version in Smugmug: http://kannafoot.smugmug.com/Photo-Challenges/PAD2013/i-9zQRnw4/0/XL/2013%2011%2022_0069%20copy-XL.jpg
Well, I'm so excited about the crew as well. As a resident of the desert, you would think I know nothing about crews, but I just finished reading a wonderful book, The Boys in the Boat. http://www.amazon.com/Boys-Boat-Daniel-James-Brown/dp/067002581X
We captured both the men's and women's Harvard crews on the Charles River in Boston this fall. Very exciting photo for me, Ron.
