Momma's, don't let your children grow up to be systems programmers. A hardware implementation that started at 9:00 PM last night turned into a marathon session that reached intermission at 1:00 PM today, with a reconvene at 8:00 PM tonight. As a result, I'm running on no sleep since about 5:00 AM Saturday morning, and it will likely be sometime tomorrow night before I actually get any. Such is the life of working in the technology field. Trust me, avoid the field like the plague.

The amount of time available for a photo today was extremely limited, so I stopped at one of my "safety shot" locations near my house. I planned to get some photos of the ice clad waterfall, but I really liked the look and field of this partially open gate at the entrance to the tennis courts in Notte Park. The very low light levels, thanks to a late afternoon sun and some thick, low clouds, created an interesting mood. Since it matched my "running on empty" mood, I did nothing to brighten the scene.

Post processing started with a classic filter in Topaz B&W FX. I adjusted color sensitivity sliders, adaptive exposure, regions, contrast, boost black, and boost white. A levels adjustment was added in PSE.

Here's the high res version in Smugmug: http://kannafoot.smugmug.com/Photo-Challenges/PAD2014/i-TGHXk8Q/0/XL/2014%2001%2026_0022%20copy-XL.jpg
It tells a story about how busy the court must be in snow--no gate is really needed. As for your advice, too late. My son is already in IT for the state's electric company. It's a good job, though, in this economy especially.
