Storage in HDR
27 December 2014 -- 361/365
Bristol, Rhode Island

Directly behind the parking area for Coggeshall Farm, a living museum depicting farm life in 18th century Rhode Island, stand two small storage sheds. They are also in the style common to the late 1700s. To bring out the details in the deep shadows, I decided to present today's photo using a tone mapped High Dynamic Range composite of 8 photographs, take one f/stop apart.

Post processing stacking and tone mapping was performed in Photomatix Pro. The HDR image was saved as a 16-bit TIFF and brought into PSE. I then converted it to 8-bit (since PSE doesn't handle layers in 16-bit). A neutral filter was added in Topaz B&W FX. I adjusted color sensitivity sliders, adaptive exposure, regions, contrast, boost black, and protect highlights. A levels adjustment was added in PSE.

Here's the high res version in Smugmug: http://kannafoot.smugmug.com/Photo-Challenges/PAD2014/i-cTcdqVZ/0/XL/2014%2012%2027_0014And7more_fused%20copy-XL.jpg

Great shot here, Ron! I love how you were able to bring out the detail in the shadow areas. I have PHotomatix and just starting to learn how to use it.
