Karen...beautiful! You should harvest some of that bling for yourself! Love the dark green of the leaves and the whiteness of the droplets. Great stuff!
@marlboromaam Many thanks, Maggie for the kind words and the fav tonight. My first shot here with my new camera. It's a complicated one and am learning all over again. Very tired tonight.
@darsphotos Thank you so much, Darlene. You're a sweetheart ...thank you for the support and the fav. This was my first shot with my new camera. Went out tonight and shot some more ... it's a complicated camera and so much to learn. I'm exhausted! :)
@chard Of course!! :) This was my first trial shot with my new camera! I am trying to grasp the technology and had a class for it tonight. so far, I've managed to learn how to turn it on and off.
@karenann Wow. My husband would be jealous. He would love to get the d7000 but can't justify it. Very happy for you. Your wonderful viewpoint will be shown to us even more!
@ulpiphotos@rach_who@bkbinthecity@janets@pandorasecho@cjwhite Many thanks to you all for the great comments and the visits. This was just the first "trial" shot outside the camera store where I just picked up my new camera. Couldn't even wait to get home to try it. lol Appreciate your support very much.
@lynnb Thanks so much for that comment, Lynn. I know that I will never be able to "justify" what this camera really does. Had a class on it tonight and I do know how to "turn it on and off" now. lol It's going to take time .... LOTS of time. Appreciate your wonderful support, Lynn. Thanks.
@Hey Now we even have the same camera in common!! I just got mine when my Dad passed and havent even got to use it much yet as i am having trouble with my old len's from my D90 working on it..Are you having that problem? My two old len's are not that old!! one is just a few months old (my 50mm) and the other is a year old (my 70-300mm) but neither of them will work on my new camera ...Any Idea's??
@ulpiphotos I really did like the 3100, Ulpi and was just getting comfortable with it, but I decided to get one that I will NEVER outgrow. lol The new one has a lot more to learn technically .. had a class on it tonight. I can turn it "on and off" now. LOL Seriously, I think that it will be great once I learn a few of the basics at least.
@ellimae Yay ... we can "moan and groan" together now, Ellen. The D3100 lens that I had fit and work well with the D7000. I do want a different telephoto lens tho. The one that I have now is a 55mm-300mm. I want to get the 18mm-300mm. The big difference is in the extra glass and how it's made. I tried one at the store. Cannot swing the extra $$ right now. But talk about clarity ... wow. For now, it all seems to be working fine. Except I don't know a thing about this new one ... had the class on it tonight. It's alot to learn, but hey, that's a good thing... I've got time. Here we go, Ellen. Let's have fun. :)
@michaelelliott Just a snap as I walked out the camera store, ME. Cropped and uploaded. Now I want the better lens. Not the kit stuff. But that can wait awhile. There's so much to learn on this new one and had the class on that tonight. I love it. I know how to turn it on and off. lol You need a better one than the D7000 ... I spoke to a pro (customer) at the store and believe me, Nikon has some new PRO cameras out now. Go look at them. If you're really serious, you need to take this step, ME.
@karenann Oh I Love this! I have not had a class one on any of my equipment! Who offer's a class? I am so self taught its pathetic !...I just do what feel's right and when i do something right i try to remember it ! lol! So ..yes i will have to find out why my len's are not working..i shall have to resort to the manual! Agggggghhh!!! ...Lets help each other the best we can ..I dont want to have to buy new len's ..at least not now! I do want the 85mm that Nikon just came out with this month! it is $$ to so now i will have to wait but i have herd it is going to be a good one! especially for portraits...Did you get the kit lens with yours?
@karenann - yeak I hear ya but I know what I want is going to be a lot $ and got to get ready for another year of college tuition for two kids. On thing thats great about NYC is lots of places to rent real high end cameras and lens on daily to weekly basis. So I may experiment a little and see what I really like. But the 7000 is awesome so have fun and lots to learn on it.
So pretty! Love how you've captured the water droplets on the leaves, how you've captured the light to make them look like little, sparkly gemstones. And congratulations on your new camera! Wow, isn't that exciting! 8D
@ellimae Nope ... just got the body and use my other two lens. The 18mm-55mm. And the other one I mentioned. But I do want those very special made ones, Ellen. If you try one just once like I did, you can see the difference immediately. The store where I got these cameras is where I go for classes ... the owner gives these occasionally. He has 35 yrs. experience. If I had to learn it all through the manual, I'd have a migraine that would last forever. lol I don't think that I'll ever go the "portrait" route. Right now, I'm trying everything ... it could change down the road. I do talk to Jerry (the store oner) frequently and he gives me the latest on new lens info, etc. I could not do this without his help. That's why I didn't go to Best Buy, etc. I wanted this personal service. Best thing I ever did.
@myautofocuslife Thanks so much, Livia ... always appreciate your comments and visits. Yeah, it's exciting AND scary at the same time. But I'm determined to learn ... no matter how long it takes.
@vickisfotos Hi Vicki .. yes, do take your time. Go into a camera store and look at them and hold them. Look for the things that you want one to do for you ... I did that. A good store will have someone with experience who can tell you alot. Both brands are good. It becomes a matter of personal comfort and choice. Enjoy!!
@karenann I did not know you got a new camera. Looks like a nice one. I miss my old point and shoot as I could take macros easily and they came out pretty good. I do not have a dedicated macro on my Sony camera and though it looks like a fancy camera the lens is not interchangeable. The manufacturer said how to make it do macros but it takes a number of photos to do so usually. It is amazing what various cameras can do and what the person taking the photos can do. You will get used to your new one and will love it. It takes time and practice. I just read Michael's comment and that would be cool to rent a camera. I will have to see if they do that here. Hmmmm.
divine droplets. AWESOME miss you. Today is Paul's cemetery ceremony with the soldiers, and gun salute. I keep asking him to help me with this day. I'm going to need help. Right now I'm better than this morning. Trying to stay busy until 1 when we leave. My nephew is driving. Just wanted to share with you. Thank you so much for thinking of me and sending a card. So sweet. Wish we could meet.
@ellimae Hi Ellen ... the better lens are made by Nikon (Nikkor) ...just better than the "regular" or kit lens. Our internet has been down all day. Trying to catch up ..so hard, isn't it? Thanks for the visit .. and "talk" with you soon!!
@jpvona Oh Jill .. you are in my thoughts today and I am there with you in my heart. Praying for you and sending you hugs. Let me know how you are doing when you can.
@darsphotos Thank you for the comment, Darlene .. yes, I got the camera, but it will take me forever to learn it. But that's o.k. I can add better lens to this one as I go along. Steep learning curve but it all takes time. Renting sounds like a good idea. We don't have that option where I live.
@claireuk I LOVE your comment, Claire!! This affluent area was right in front of the camera store downtown. You know what, Claire .. I don't even own a diamond. So I'll takes natures "jewels" and be happy. Thanks for the smile ....loved it!! :)
@summerfield No "star" here, summerfield .. the last three days have been dismal failures. Geez, I want to turn my camera in .. I feel it's not safe in my hands anymore. lol I am clearly doing something (maybe alot of things) wrong. Must get my head back on straight. :)
@peacerebel Many thanks, Charlene ... a trial shot with the new camera. I think that I will like it .... once I learn how to use it. :) Appreciate your kind words and the fav!
Like pearls, or yes sparkling jewles. A really beautiful shot. Karen I have commented and hope I have caught up on your shots taken while I was away. I have to say that I see you have moved on from the flower shots. You have perfected the dof on these. Your new shots have been absolutely great, so right to move on. See you have a new camera too, good luck with that.
