What a great close-up! I love watching the chipmunk antics at our house, but I don't have a lens that will accomplish a photo like this! Awesome! He sure is cute!
Oh, so you have chipmunks up there. All we have are these pesky squirrels. Are chipmunks more well behaved? Do they get into birdfeeders? Wanna swap? He's a cutie and what a fabulous catch, Karenann!
@cimes1 Thanks for such a great comment and for the fav, Carole!! Yes, I'll send a few of these your way ... we have an abundance of them here! They are faster and even harder to shoot than squirrels, I think. Since we don't have our own yard, I don't know how destructive they are (or not!) Appreciate your kindness as always, Carole. Thanks for everything.
@darsphotos Thank you so very much for the kind words and the fav, Darlene! These are cute critters and are very, very fast. This one only sat still for a moment to eat! Fun to catch ... loved your photo tonight. Your photos, no matter what you shoot, are wonderful, Darlene. thanks for your visit and your support!
@joyvanb@rob257@pandorasecho@yonnie@calm@kerristephens Many thanks to all of you for the wonderful comments and the visits. Appreciate your kind support ... always! He was my desperation shot for the day! I know that everyone must be so tired of my flower shots!! :)
@digitalrn Thanks, Rick ... they were running all over the place today at the park! Very quick ... was lucky to get a shot. Appreicate your kind comments.
@marlboromaam@hiquerr Thanks to you both for the great comments ... these little critters are fun to shoot. But are so quick! I'm glad that he took a quick break to eat. Yes, it was kind of fun ... I love flowers, but know that everyone is sick to death of my flowers everyday! Thanks for your visits and your great support! :)
Awwwwww...this is my most favorite critter ever and I don't see them around our new house. In the old one we had several in the back garden. They used to sit on the edges of the low deck sunning themselves and occasionally making little chirping noises. I fed them peanuts and berries and took some pictures of them. Yours is plump and adorable. An absolute FAV!!
@jpvona Oh thank you for such kind words and the fav, Jill. I wouldn't have caught him at all if he hadn't stopped for a moment to eat..they are so fast! Appreciate your visit ... and hope that you are doing alright. Hugs, Jill.
@scrappy Yep ... I used to be a "people" paparazzi, Scrappy. But people get really annoyed! lol So I stick to flowers and animals now ... more or less. :) Thanks so much for your comments and your visits.
@meisen325 You are SO kind, Monica ... thank you for the great comment and the fav! Appreciate your visits and your support! And you know that I love your photos.
@karenann You are so sweet, Karenann. I commented with this as a squirrel and noticed that others said it was a chipmunk so I deleted my comment and put chipmunk. They do look similar. Your photos are so great also, Karenann. I love them. I think that we get tired of our own sometimes. When we get a good one, we know right away but if pondering over a few it makes me crazy and drives my husband and son crazy also as I ask them and they give me two different answers usually.
@deburahiru@chard Thanks to you both for such great comments and for the visits and support!! @chard ...you know that nothing can hide from me very long!! :)
@darsphotos I totally agree, Darlene. Sometimes I am afraid to put any of my photos up .... and I never think that I get a great photo. Except once. That was it. My husband tries to help me to decide sometimes, but he really isn't that interested in this. Thanks again for your kind and understanding comment!
oh that is just such a wonderful shot... he look so so cute ... want to hug him but probably not a good idea... great capture.... such a wonderful closeup
@ellimae Thank you so much for your support, Ellen ... I look forward to seeing your photos every day! Appreciate your kind words and the fav AND the visits.. thanks.
oh, look at alvin! this is such a great capture, karenann. the details on him and the leaf are so amazingly clear. you rock whichever camera you use. you gotta have more confidence in yourself, my friend. i looked at all your photos and all of them are great - set-up, comp, pov. you rock!
@summerfield Oh summerfield .. I almost called him "Alvin" in the title! My new camera had a "glitch" so it's being replaced soon, I hope. It's a daily struggle for me to find THE photo to post. I've always been my own harshest critic. Thanks for the great comment and the wonderful support. You are one great lady!!
He is so cute! Love how close you got. I like his striped coloring. It's very pretty. There are no chipmunks here but I'm glad I got to see a really adorable one in your shot. Great work, Karen! 8)
This is such a great close up! The detail is amazing and it looks as if you were sitting right in front of him in the grass! Beautiful color and clarity! It's all good!
@twinsplusone Thank you, Sharon for such kind words and for the fav ... I really do appreciate your visits and your support! Your photos are an inspiration. Thanks.
Karenann, this is a terrific shot. You have captured a wonderful close up. Personally, I dislike chipmunks as they are really destructive around our house. But I have always thought they were cute and this shot is great!!
@lindag@stcyr1up@debbim Many thanks to you all for the wonderful comments and for your fantastic support! yes, Debbi, I agree ... they are or can be destructive little critters. But it was a photo op that I couldn't pass up. And are they ever FAST! :)
Nice capture of him! He has some beautiful colors and your exposure is great.
PS Last week you wrote some great thoughts on my tree photo. Please don't get discouraged with this community. I have stopped trying to figure out how it works or thinks. I have never gotten 30 favs on any one shot and definitely would not be missed by the masses if my acct deleted. I am OK with that. I think my work has come a long way, I have learned a ton and I keep learning more (but not from those on here any more). It's fun to post and interact and that is what I use 365 for. I hope you continue to do the same. While the masses might not miss the little guys, the little guys sure miss each other when we go away. :-) Take care!
@cfitzgerald Thank you for taking the time to tell me how you feel too, Courtney. I started out on here just for fun with a p&s. A few months later I moved up to a dslr and now will have the Nikon D7000. (which is way over my head, but I don't care!) I have finally found a passion in life, other than my dear husband, and won't stop as long as I am able to do this. I am taking classes to learn about the camera and next it will be on photoshop and finally I will find classes on composition. I won't give up. I have learned alot on here...especially with the ones who were so willing to share and kindly nurtured me. I have a long, long way to go. But that's alright. One should never stop learning. I know that this is your passion too, Courtney. You're way at the top on here and I know that you'll go further. Don't stop and don't waste your talent. And thank you for all that you've done for me.
@karenann I think I have a love/hate relationship with that tree! LOL! Anyway, I have seen you note a few times that you are taking photography courses. There is an art college in Maine. I looked up some photogrpahy courses. What are you taking? What would you recommend? There are a couple of DSLR courses, black and white photography (using film) etc. I would like to take a formal course.. Thanks!! :)
Karen....your focus and composition are always astounding! Wonderful shot! You will learn that new camera as well as this one and further rock our world! You go girl!
@lynnb Awww .... Lynn, you are so generous and kind. I know so very little. I haven't even been shooting for a year yet. Started on here with a p&s and moved up to the dslr. Never did photography before ... never even had a hobby. So I'm enjoying it ... just for me!! Thanks, Lynn.
@elizabeth264 I sure don't know, Elizabeth. I am starting out at the very basics. The local camera shop (where I got my camera) is just teaching us "how to use the settings" on our cameras. That's it. We go on a few field trips, but it's not about composition ... it's all about the settings. We have a state college about ten miles away that might teach composition courses. If so, I might do one of those. There's a photography club here that I might join later on. And there's a woman here who teaches photoshop one week-end. I might do that later. I am really taking baby steps. I figure that if I don't know my camera, then going out and really using it won't do me much good. The rest if "do it every day ... or as much as you can." Trial and error. And I have hundreds of those! If you know your camera, you should jump right in and go for the formal training. If that's what you want to do ... I already have my college degree and now wish that I had minored in photography or art. People on here have taught me alot just by looking at their photos. This site has been wonderful for me.
@karenann Thank you so much! I love your photos...interesting because the college level courses that I have looked at appear to just teach you how to use your camera, not composition. I would like to learn both. I think I could learn to use my camera easy enough but I really would like help with composition. Thanks!!
FAVE! I just saw one for the first time locally in our yard! I guess they're plentiful here, and yet I'd NEVER seen one in 20+ years. This is wonderful!!
@quiltincats@sitiodown@nanalisarocks Thanks to each of you for the great comments and for your kind support. I'm strictly a beginner, Lisa @nanalisarocks. But I love what I'm doing (most days!) lol And that helps .. all of you inspire me. Every single day.
@elizabeth264 If it's composition classes that you want, Elizabeth, then I believe that they are out there. Did you know that there are some online too? I think that some people here have taken them.
Heeeheee, thank you for making me smile. I haven't smiled since I stepped into this office. It's tough when you have to work with wise-crackers and foot-in-the-mouth colleagues.
@sunnygreenwood@tooki Aww ... such great comments! Thanks to you both for the visit and the support. It's much appreciated. I'm glad that is made you smile, Tooki. :)
@jennywren Thanks so very much for the wonderful words and the fav, Jen. Sometimes I ask myself why I keep trying and struggling. It's all because of the great people like you here on 365 who are so VERY kind.
@elizabeth264 Nah ... that was someone's else's, Elizabeth. I'm almost positive. You are so doggone SWEET! Wish that you were not leaving! :) You make me smile .... that's much better than pp. :)
@karenann Wow! I swear to god I have seen several of your shots on there. I am so happy that I make you smile! I am not leaving. I will be on here from time to time just not every day. I am on a local website now called Unseenportland.com. They randomly select 1 or 2 photos per day to post and it is all pictures of Portland, Maine. They have selected a few of mine over the past month and I like it because it is kind of an honor to be selected and I don't have any followers, etc so it is just kind of easy. Do you have a local photography website?
Oh my, Fav, Fav, Fav! I adore Chipmunks xxx Wonderful timing, and composition.....especially love how he's in his natural enviroment. A real treasure Karenann......All my best, Les x
