As a child I recall seeing these trains glide by as a thing of wonder, shiny and new. Funny I have no recollection of how awfully noisy the diesel engines are!
Well spotted. Fabulous colours. Selective memory is right. I can’t remember the smell and smoke from the steam train I used to catch. Now I go heritage tours to photograph them.
I recall most trips we did on a train with steam engine, as children we loved every minute. In fact once a year we still do a trip with one here.
