Extremely cold day and this Mourning Dove took shelter from the north wind huddling in the sun. He was joined by a few friends who proceeded to leave their calling cards when they departed. Sheesh.

Sorry I've been scarce. My Mom entered hospital with pneumonia. Unlikely I'll completely catch up on your terrific shots but I'll try.
So sorry about your mom. Winter is very harsh to elderlies. All the best!

Great colour matching in this photo and very pretty subject.

This is an amazing close-up. My son was recently hospitalized with pneumonia (6 days!), and so I know how scary it can be. I hope your mother is on the mend. Your photo reminds me a child's verse (it's about a robin, but the sentiment holds true):
"The north wind doth blow and we shall have snow, and what will poor robin do then, poor thing!
She'll stay in the barn to keep herself warm, and hide her head under her wing, poor thing!"

Wonderful close up, she is really pressed against the house and I feel for her! Lucky for you they don't make a terrible mess like some other birds....

Lovely photo. Fav.

Hope your mother is improving...that can be so stressful. Poor little dove looks shy.

A great shot, but minus 40 degrees is a bit silly. I get out the thermals when we get down to 16 degrees C.
Hope your Mum is on the mend now. A stressful time I am sure.

Amazing how they handle those awful temperatures - such a cute shot. Do hope your mother is improving - can't imagine at her age having to handle that. Wishes for her full recovery quickly.

@cejaanderson I love that poem too. Your shot is lovely Kathie - certainly looks like he needs to huddle up with a few mates to keep warm.
