Heron on Ice by kathiecb

Heron on Ice

That may sound like a drink order but it's a migrating Heron just returned from the south.
There are lots of areas where the ice has melted but on the east side of the lake it's still fairly thick.
Because the blocks of ice look uniform I'm guessing they were cut out to make the trough in a fish hut. And to think these would have been shipped to Toronto and the US for early refrigeration.
I like the heron and the idea if a drink appeals too

Smiled at your description -- the title is great, and it's a wonderful, lonely looking winter scene.

@radiogirl @onewing @bkbinthecity @seattlite @taffy Yes, these are serious ice cubes.
Glad they brought back a fond memory @janeandcharlie
@harbie We have a few early birds. Based on today's weather of snow and high winds the worms are still frozen.
