Guineafowl Grazing

A beautiful capture of a very funny looking bird!!! Fabulous composition and colors. Are these wild and are they hunted? (for the dinner table?) Do they taste like chicken? Sorry for all the ?'s hahaha!

Terrific capture! Is this one domesticated or in the wild?

@eyesmile Thanks Gena, I raised these Guineafowl, they are semi tame. I agree they are funny looking and acting which proves God has a sense of humor. Sometimes they are called watch birds because they are very loud when scared. When they make that noise my guard dogs come to their rescue. They are also good for eating pesky insects and parasites so they are very useful on a farm.

I have never seen a Guinea fowl before though I have heard lots of them. Very interesting - I was expecting a much prettier and exotic looking bird.

This is a great capture. What colour are yours. I brought my first keeps a few months ago and the woman wasn't sure what they were but they look lavender with blue faces. They are such funny birds to watch.

@farmreporter Guinea Fowl come in many different colors! They are so ugly they become cute! They are as funny as they look. If one wants to get to the other side of the fence, he may run up and down the fence for hours when all he has to do is fly over.

@helixconcepts Haha! He has feathers just not around his head.

@bristolrose Kathryn, My Guinea fowl are white! I like other colors better. A friend of mine bought a lot of babies and gave me these because she had too many. I would like to get some different colors soon. Are yours babies?

Well, isn't that an 'interesting' bird. I'd feel bad calling it outright ugly. ;-)
Unusual neck. It looks like someone or something has been trying to chew on it. LOL
Had to laugh at your description of one running along the fence instead of flying over. So silly.
