Does anyone know how to prevent the sunflares in a photo?

A lens hood blocking direct views of the sun will stop or reduce sunflares. Pointing the lens directly at the sun will always produce some flares. well I really like the sunflare...think it's great! (it's the angle of where your camera is pointing I believe)

I like the sun flares actually! I actually shift my lens around to get them pointing in the direction I like in my photo so I am sure it is all about angle. I just don't like the ones that are fake and added after the fact. They typically look fake and feel forced to me. =\

Often the flare gives a really nice effect (like this photo) but if you really don't want it, I guess you have to do what the manuals used to tell you and take the picture with the sun at your back. Or maybe use a filter.
