951 Project by kgolab

951 Project

So this is me, I intensely dislike having my photograph taken. So you are not likely to see me very often on here. :)

So to try and get over myself, I started what I call my '951 Project' about 3 months ago.

The idea is that at 9.51am and 9.51pm each day I take a photography of myself. By making this into my '951 Project' I don't have much room for error. 60 seconds is all I have to take a photograph of myself, where ever I am, what ever I am doing.

There have been times when I have missed the 60 second window (even though I have an alarm set) and that's okay as I tend to be a perfectionist, so learning to live with something not quite as I envisioned is okay for me now - Not so long ago I would have stopped the 'project', deleted all the photographs and given up. However I strive to continue to add to this project even when I miss a beat.

The idea for my '951 Project' came about as I needed a reason to take photographs of myself and keep them no matter how good or bad they might be. It was not until my Dad died and we were left with very few photographs of him that I struggled to find a way to ensure that my kids didn't experience the same thing. I needed a way to learn to live with myself on both side of the camera.

This photograph was taken today at 9.51am. I was shopping for some frames for some photos I have had printed. In the background is my gorgeous daughter. Taken on my phone camera.

Good or Bad, I don't care because this is me :)
This I have to fav, as being someone who also runs a mile when a camera appears, I understand how hard it must be for you. Well done and I hope you can keep going.

Great selfie...I too am not a person who likes being photographed. Great narrative too...

I think we all prefer to be behind the camera. Exactly the same happened when my dad died too. Most of the phots we had were when he was really young, so I admire you and your project

Fav from me too! I prefer to be behind my camera and not in front of it, so I think you are brave to make two selfies of yourself each day! Great story and project.

Ingenious and effective idea for a selfie project...

Brave project! Good for you. I too run from the front of the camera. My daughter captured me reading to my granddaughter the other day - smart phones have made it easier.

I run from the camera too but I let my daughters take my picture because they have helped me accept myself more... I also felt at a loss when my dad passed away very few pictures and none of us together since I was a teenager. Great idea 💡 for a project

Well done, nice to see you :)

This is a brave project and an excellent idea. I have gone back and forth, depending on weight, whether I want to have my photo taken or not. So, I know exactly how you feel. I think your project will definitely help others along the way! :)

It does not matter what they think of us,
if our feelings and intentions are clean and honest!

Good for you, hats off!

Love your smile and your honesty and your bravery. I, like you, hate to be in photos!

Well done & hello. :)
I'am camera shy too, but my kids are always snapping photos.
It's lovely to meet you.
