Road Trip Day 5 - The Big Golden Guitar

Tamworth is located half way between Brisbane and Sydney.

Tamworth is also quite famously know as the 'Country Music Capital of Australia', as it hosts the 'Tamworth Country Music Festival' in late January each year. It is the second largest country music festival in the world. It has many local and International Country Music acts attend.

The CMAA's awards night ceremony is called the 'Country Music Awards of Australia'. During these awards the winning artists are presented with Golden Guitar Award trophies that are miniature replicas of the Golden Guitar statue. Hence why 'The Big Golden Guitar' does not have any guitar strings. These awards are highly coveted in the Australian country music industry. The presentation of awards is regarded as the pinnacle event of the Tamworth Country Music Festival

Tamworth is also recognised as the National Equine Capital of Australia, due to the high number of equine events held in the city and the construction of the world-class Australian Equine and Livestock Events Centre. It is the biggest of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere.

We then drove 341km's from Tamworth to Dubbo for our next hotel stay.
Love this Big Golden Guitar
