He's growing taller, picking things up quicker, finding things easier. He does things without being asked to, he helps when he sees someone who needs help. He is fun to hang out with and hold conversations with. He has boundless energy. And he still loves to hold his mummy's hand. He told me he'll always hold my hand, even when I'm old.
Hats off to anyone who takes backlit photos successfully. I tried several shots and just couldn't get it right!
Lovely words Lesley. How old is he now? My 7 year old son still likes to hold my hand or have cuddles. My 9 year old daughter not so much. Backlit photos are hard, I agree, but I think this is excellent. The light from behind him is lovely, not blown out, and yet there is still plenty of light on your son. And the little bit of sun glare on him is perfect - dreamy feeling.
@daldry Thanks Rod. I lightened his face slightly with the adjustment brush in RAW, but the halo is there because he is right between me and the sun (like my shot from yesterday... I've just been playing with light). @stuckinoz Thanks Janelle, I was just thinking about you yesterday. He's 6 and a bit. We had some nice one on one time today, something that doesn't happen too often. I would have liked a bit more detail on his face which I couldn't get even with processing. Perhaps if I was closer I could have used a fill flash but I never think of that.
@kiwichick Funny that you were thinking about me yesterday. I often think about my 365 people - l have even had dreams with 365 people in there. How bizarre is that :)
@stuckinoz That is funny. I was just reading your profile... and it made me wonder where you would rather be living. Or have things changed since you wrote that?
Really nice shot Lesley. They do get big so fast, don't they? Wes told me that when he gets married he'll go away for a week but then come back and no matter where Ted and I move, he'll always live next door. :-) I'm just cherishing every moment like this b/c I know it'll be gone too quickly. Give Reuben a squeeze for me. :-)
@triciabauman That is so funny Tric, because the kids always talk about how they will live in the houses around us when they move out. Reuben will live across the road and Keira will live next door and Aubrey will live next to Reuben. How sweet that they want to be that close!
The light is just stunning. I love your story. My oldest (five) is going to live at home with me forever and never stop holding my hand even when she is a teenager. (her words) I really need to get it on video.
@edie Isn't it so sweet. He also wants to live next door to me when he does move out, and his sister and little brother will all live in the neighbouring houses! Yes, a video would be a great idea ;)

Sounds like you are a wonderful mommy! Oh they do grow up too quick.
