It is a beautiful wide open estuary known as the Nelson Haven
Nelson Haven is an extensive area of mudflats northeast of Nelson, New Zealand. It is separated from Tasman Bay by the Boulder Bank and over 8 km long and up to 2 km wide. The area is regularly completely drowned and exposed by tidal action.
A very special place for me.
@happypat A very calming place to enjoy. The boulder bank can just be seen to the left of the tree line. That acts as a natural harbour so the water is often very calm and then it empties out and leaves fascinating patterns in the mudflats.
