This weekend I went up to Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. It was the first time I’d ever seen it in winter and it was breathtaking. The shots for the next few days will be from my trip. Nearly filled a 4GB card!
This is the underside of the mighty Mackinac Bridge. I’ve wanted to get a shot of this 5 mile engineering marvel in the winter for, well, seems like forever. Later a freighter went by and I shot that too. So stay tuned, more pics to follow…
Interesting fact about the bridge:Painting of the bridge takes seven years, and when painting of the bridge is complete, it begins again.
Wow . . you knocked this one out of the ballpark, Ken! Awesome pov. PP for sure! I know you got more photos of this fabulous structure, right? But I really hate going over that thing, don't you?!
@karenann Karen, I LOVE going over it! The only thing that sucks is both times this weekend it just happened that I was the driver. There were icebergs and everything. You should try the Labor Day walk over it. Can't wait until my kids are old enough!
awesome shot and info ~ been over that bridge many-a-time but never knew the story of its underbelly! The UP is gorgeous in the winter snow ~ hope you enjoyed it! =)
I have never seen underneath the bridge but I did walk over it a few years back.
