I couldn't quite choose between these 3 shots so made a collage as it shows what was going on even better. Some koalas are confident and instead of playing the 'you can't see me' game, use the tactic of sitting rock still and staring you down like this lovely lady.
I believe she is an older girl (though on examining the teeth can really tell, not an easy task!) as she was actually sitting here watching over a young mum with a joey. I reckon she is grandma, as that is quite typical behaviour too.
Whatever, I just love her face - she isn't what I call pretty for a koala, but she has a wealth of character to make up for it!
Thanks to everyone who have been taking me to the trending page!!!
Exceptional shots. I agree she is staring you down & I agree she is a gracious lady with so much character. I didn't know there was so much to learn about these lovely animals even though I have seen them all my life, although not like in your beautiful shots. Fav.
@fayefaye@pamknowler@hermann@tellefella I posted this around 5.30am Australia time. Now already at 8am as I'm about to go out koala spotting this is on the TRENDING page already and I'm beyond stunned. It's hard to describe how it feels to me as I just love my property and my koalas, but to see you all commenting long comments and enjoying them so much truly does something to lift my spirit. THANKS FOR SHARING WITH ME :)
@happysnaps Thanks Val, I like thinking she's a grandma like we are :)
I also love how she has reverse bags on her eyes, she seems to have bags above her eyes instead of below like I do LOL :)
@jblanton@yeshanghai thanks for enjoying :) Jstargo I am so lucky to live on this awesome property and work on improving the habitat for such amazing little critters :)
What a beautiful girl. I was lucky enough last year to have one arrive and settle in for 6 months before disappearing again. We have not had koalas in our area since the 1930s but a few rare sightings have been made since our big floods of 2010 and 2013. There must be isolated colonies back in the hills. Keep up your good work and keep sharing. I never tier of your Koala uploads.
@ubobohobo wonderful story Margaret, 6 months living there must have been so exciting! It's so sad how many important habitat areas have degraded because they simply do not relocate. That hasn't been figured out as to why, but when they try they will simply travel hundreds of km to get back home!
There must be some colonies around you, good to know some are hiding out there!
Thanks for the comment, I never tire of checking on the ones here, so it's great to know you are enjoying them!
What a delightful series of shots of this beautiful koala - great way to share them with the triptych. Love the "Yes, it's me - I'm planning to stay just where I am and you can't do anything about it" look. Total control - or so she feels.
Love the collage and looks without character means nothing!! Most times it is character that attracts you to something or someone!! She looks mighty cute to me and that is some kind of stare!!! Did she blink at all? LOL FAV!
very well caught, lots of character about her. Thanks for the follow, now following you because I can't resist looking at these cute pictures of your Koalas :)
@milaniet thanks it was definitely too hard to choose one of those 3 and together they seem to work :) @cashew I couldn't agree more Kathy, character lasts longer too! I know that between picking my way around the tree and snapping the camera I would have blinked at least 20 times for each of hers at the very least! @leananiemand thanks Leana! @shirleybankfarm thanks for the follow, I will enjoy sharing them with you :) @alia_801 I know what you mean and I just captured and left carefully, she isn't one I would want to take on! :D
Brilliant collage of her - such personality, and a beautiful coat. And an interesting narrative. Keep posting, fab pics and so interesting. Congrats on your TP's and PP's too.
I also love how she has reverse bags on her eyes, she seems to have bags above her eyes instead of below like I do LOL :)

@gigiflower thanks Sam, loved your stuff too happy to be mutually following :) thanks so much for the fav!
That is by far the most FAV's I've had yet, so I'm pretty excited that I'm doing something right!
