This is a koala in the wild. Dewy passes through my property regularly but usually only hangs around for a week or so at a time.
I find him such a cutie to look at, there is just something innocent about his face. Mind you I believe it was he that recently ravaged through some young tallowwoods, I hope they are allowed to recover for a while now.
You can tell he is male clearly here by the scent gland that shows as a dark line down the middle of his chest.
He IS a cutie -- he looks so upright and alert but innocent and lovable at the same time and he looks so well groomed --A proper little gentleman !! FAV
He has a 'who me?' innocent expression. I have learnt something from looking at some of your previous posts as I recognised this as a male before reading your description!
@beryl looks like he just had a wash and blow dry I reckon lol @ubobohobo@katrinastabback@amandal thanks for enjoying and commenting! @salza way to go Sally, I'm sure it's something you will never forget now lol
@koalagardens , as a child my 'teddy' was a beautiful very realistic toy koala, ' with a soft leather padded nose. your captures really give me warm and fuzzy's and I am still a little obsessed with this stunning marsupials noses! Their ears always remind me of my 'gramps' furry ears! ha!
@katrinastabback@cashew thank you so much :) Sometimes I get a capture of the other obvious way to tell, but it's often easier to capture that chest :) he's sure a glorious example!

After those wonderful comments (thank you all!) I'm almost embarrassed to confess that I came riding along on the quad bike, and suddenly saw him even though I'd been past there twice without seeing him. Stopped the bike, grabbed the camera out of my carry bag, turned the bike off, snapped 3 photos of him and he decided nup don't like this and turned and leapt up the tree quick as a flash before I could even get into video mode!
So yes, he looks so totally calm and zen, but another couple of seconds and I wouldn't have had any photo at all! lol
I must say some get very used to me and just sit and pose, but Dewy hasn't seen me very often so I was right lucky with this one :)
Awwww! He looks so adorable here (though I think I also see a mischievous glint in his eye!
(The first thing I thought when I looked was 'he must be male - he has a brown gland' - the educational captions are working) :)
