Even though this photo is not front on you can see that the scent gland on Helix is very small and for the most part his chest is still white. He is a juvenile so he has barely hit puberty yet.

Sometimes however males who are mature but very low in the hierarchy of the colony don't develop large or active scent glands. Probably this is because they would be seen as a threat to the alpha males.
