Good to hear you have rain, otherwise I would have been happy to send you some of ours 😁.
After asking you yesterday if koalas breed successfully in captivity I heard on the news today that 5 koalas have been brought to England as part of a breeding program to help to prevent them becoming endangered ( I thought they already were). It seems a bit odd to bring them all this way and it must have been very stressful for them.

@susiemc well firstly never believe anything you read/hear in the media ... yes they use this as an effective, emotional way of advertising zoos. It is true they may prevent them from becoming completely extinct, they will only be 'extinct in the wild' but the zoos will make a fortune when the only koalas left are in captivity.
You are right the stress on them would have been enormous, and we have yet to see how many survive.
There are many political reasons koalas, and other wild animals such as @s4sayer giraffes are shipped to zoos and bred. And they love to say how 'happy' they are - anthropomorphising animals is a great way of spreading lies.
It is so sad to think that people truly believe that keeping animals in captivity for the entertainment of humans is a good thing. But it is nothing new - cruelty as entertainment has been one of mans traits since the earliest recordings of time.
uh oh, climbing way way down off that high horse ... :)
fabulous discussion points, thank you both, I love that you are thinking and talking with me!
