You can clearly see in this image that the ear tag indeed ripped out of Bullet's ear, rather than it came apart and dropped out as some hoped. He is fine, and probably happy it is gone.
Disclaimer: Please note I do not put these on the koalas. Bullet was bitten by a dog (not on my property of course) and the wound abscessed and I had to catch him and he went into a wildlife hospital. Government regulations dictate that all koalas are to be tagged before release. Fortunately koalas are not aware of this regulation and will not be prosecuted for removing their tags. They do however, have to remove them at their own expense.
