Look carefully and you can see joey clinging to Stevie's belly.
Stevie has the biggest ears I've ever seen, and she also has hides from me more than most so I don't get to put photos of her up so often.
A couple more weeks that that joey will be easier to see as it starts to ride her back more often than her belly.
Every joey brings hope that we will reverse things and provide enough trees in Australia for the koalas to survive.
Thank you for the awesome questions and comments on my photos.
Stevie is sure a posh looking lady with those big fluffy ears ! and the joe is clinging fast to his mum ! Nice that you can find Stevie from time to time !
@beryl I find her a lot, just can't get a decent photo of her as often as many of the others :) lots of photos of her hiding her face and just big ears sticking out hahahaha
@30pics4jackiesdiamond for a few months. They start by sitting in mum's lap and eating, then riding her belly, then her back and then they start to climb on their own. They come out of the pouch at around 6 - 7 months old, and usually separate from mum by 12 months old. So it's a gradual process - in that last couple of months they are mostly independent of mum in the tree, but ride her back when moving on the ground.
You are so lucky to be able to live so close to these beautiful creatures. We have raccoons and skunks. Sadly, although they look cute, they don’t make great neighbours.
(Plant more trees.)
