@haskar no those claw marks stay there forever. this tree would be well over 100 years old I believe, so it obviously doesn't bother the tree - I guess they have lived with koala scratchings for a very long time .... :)
@shutterbug49 good question! from the moment they come out of the pouch :) only difference is that when they are tiny they are hanging onto mums back which develops up these hang on muscle groups :)
@bruni we never find healthy koalas just fall, certainly sick ones do. I wish I had the video going yesterday I was watching Jordan sleeping and his hand slipped - he did quite the jerk and caught himself. He wasn't in real danger of falling, but he sure did jump! :)
It so good the way you are showing us so many sides to the personality and behaviour of a koala. We're normally just lucky to spy one in a tree - let alone get this close and personal with him. :)
