very late afternoon in the poorest of light so I had to work hard on this one - I can't believe how well Racee has kept this joey hidden for how big it is now. at least I'll be seeing a lot more of this one now and hopefully get some wonderful photos as the days begin to lengthen out
@jgpittenger loss of trees, cars and dogs, and sadly they are winning. before white europeans koalas had no natural predators, so they are in an interesting behavioural and physical makeup position of being neither prey nor predator!
@30pics4jackiesdiamond about 1.5 kg old, or maybe around 9 months now. I'd say this one has been out of the pouch eating leaf for a good 2 months, maybe mid - late June. Racee has is often on the property but does is one of the harder ones to photograph as she stays out of sight much of the time.
Great capture of the two cuties. Can`t you country give them a protected , and planted, area without traffic, dogs and so on.? Yust for Koala`s. Maybe an island all for them self.
