Very exciting day - Jordan, the alpha male here, has become part of a research project looking at the impact of wild dogs on koalas. We caught him, and he now has a radio collar on so that his movements can be tracked for a few months. I will have some video up tomorrow, but this was the big release after we had finished.
I presumed he would exit the bag and race straight up this tree, but no he ducked to the side and ran as fast as he could to the next tree leaving me laughing!
Thank you for the awesome questions and comments on my photos.
@30pics4jackiesdiamond oh not at all - these are wild koalas, they go where they please. This research will be amazing to give me a picture of just how far Jordan goes. I was so thrilled that Jordan came onto the property today as I was thinking this would be one of those weeks I don't see him at all ...
That fence does nothing - there are 2 permanently open gates in it, and it just runs down that one side of the garden. It is a left over from once upon a time when cattle were on the property, well before my days here, to keep them out of house area :)
@30pics4jackiesdiamond in case you are interested too - all that garden slope in front of that fence, which runs for about 50 m, was just bare rubble when I bought here as the previous owner used to simply poison it so nothing grew on that entire area. I used to call it 'Mount Doom', and turned it into 'Mount Glorious' - that's why this is Koala Gardens as the two things predominate here :)
Oh what a delightful shot no wonder you are laughing as Jordan is running away "hell for leather" as we would say . It will be interesting for you (and us ) to find and follow his adventures .
Here is the info I missed before! That must have been quite tricky to catch him! He sure did not want to be caught again. Such a wonderful and happy shot of you :-)
Funny to see his pale butt retreating at speed. I think I too would prefer to avoid the tree that my captor had apparently selected for me! After his previous day of dominant bellowing, this day must have been a bit of a come down for him.
