Seems he is deep in thought, but probably not ;)
You can see how he uses the thumb on his foot to grip the branch, and the two thumbs on his left hand (the one at the back) gripping as well. So still five digits, as you can see three fingers on his right hand (at the front).
Very nice dry white bottom too - hard to explain how happy that makes a koala person!
