For our last Friday Family Day in Oman, we went on a dolphin cruise this morning. Thought we might beat the heat with an early start, but it was already 38 degrees at 8am and got hotter. Phew!
Saw tons of playful dolphins and have a new appreciation for how hard it is to photograph them - I got a lot of pictures of their tails or just their back fins!
I actually caught this guy on the way up and liked how the other boat gave a bit of perspective and depth to the image.
Oh, wow... I just spotted this pic on the Recently Popular Page - My first!! Thanks for all the views, comments, and favs! ~ Happy Dance ~
Wow, this is a very cool shot! Looks like a travel commercial :-). I love the glimmering sea and lighting. You catched that dolphin at the perfect moment.
@krissym ~ Kristine, I agree about dolphins making you smile... they are just so darn cute! @hannak ~ Hannah, thanks! @salza ~ Thanks Sally, and me too on loving the dolphins! @samuel_walters ~ Thanks Samuel... there wasn't really a lot of colour in the capture to start with so it was an easy pick for B&W. I wonder if I've gone a bit too dark with it though? @newbie ~ Stacey, Thanks! At first I wasn't sure about including the boat as it takes away from the 'natural-ness', but I like the added interest. @vaugdds ~ Wow, thanks for the fav Saskia! @ericaczz ~ Thank ya Erica! @michaelgoodling ~ Thanks Michael - it's always fun to spot dolphins in the wild! @simon0128 ~ Simon, Thanks!
Thanks all - your kind views, looks, and favs have gotten this pic on the New Faces page - my first, I think. Yay!
@kph129 At most, you might play around with brightening the water/sky a little. But the dark silhouette of the dolphin is what makes the photo so striking.
@rbqphotography ~ Thanks Becky! @eyeseeu ~ Thank you! @crissytina ~ Wow - thanks for the fav! @pien27 ~ Thanks - yep, they are awesome and definitely a little more special when you find them in the wild - though they are also fun at aquarium parks! There were so many of them too, hard to estimate but over 50 for sure in this pod.
@gillian6simpson ~ Thanks Gillian, I definitely think luck plays a big part in getting the shot... I had some many ho-hum ones! @lyno ~ Thanks Lyn - I really like that 365 is inspiring me to play with processing a lot more! @nataliestrawberry ~ Thanks Natalie!! @dauber ~ Thanks R L @edie ~ Edie, Thanks :)
