First, I must say THANK You for all your comments and Favs on yesterday's Wave Cloud shot. The sky was truly amazing. My photo does not begin to do it justice. It was a little scary but fascinating at the same time. Luckily, nothing too severe came from it.
At first glance it looked like someone sky diving! LoL Love the joy in this photo though... the balloons add a special touch, too. Just so (to reference your favorite overplayed song..) HAPPY!
@maggiemae I laid on the ground with my head at the father's feet. He lifted Jack up and I snapped away! I had to crop it because I could see his belly as his shirt flared up.
Such a joyous photo and excellent POV. I'm glad I read that this is the father because there looks to be some strange boobie action going on which I assume is just his jumper bulges?
Brilliant portrait/capture! Love the colors, the feeling, everything about it! My 6 month old grand-nephew and his family -- uncle, parents, and grandparents (my brother) are all coming in Thursday. I told my brother I'd do a family portrait for his birthday and have never done anything like that. Any suggestions? I love your family shots -- they are so full of life and fun.
@taffy How fun that you'll have so much family around. My advice is to keep it natural and as candid as possible. Get them in a group (General posed position) and ask them to laugh or talk to each other, then snap. Take them for a walk in a pretty spot and take shots from infront and behind as they walk. Stagger them and focus on someone and have the others in the background less in focus. Maybe do flipped reflection shots if you're near water. Keep them close and have fun! My best source of inspiration is Pinterest. Search "family photo ideas" and you'll be overwhelmed with ideas.
@kwind Thanks so much. I never thought of Pintrest. I was thinking about going to a botanical conservatory since it is likely to be raining the day everyone is here and has no flight early or later in the day, or a museum. Do you use a prime or a zoom? Sorry for all the questions, but I really do hope one comes out well enough to be worthy of framing (and of the time we're putting into it!).
@taffy I used my 24-70 today but I could have managed fine with my 50 prime. We were in a field and I had lots of space to move in and out. I'm sure you'll get lots of good ones.
Love this, I tried something similar indoors recently but your outdoor version with the blue sky, balloons and his happy expression is much better. Fav for sure!
You know my shots well Kim, so will know that this is not my style, but I am magically drawn to it, it is a brilliant POV and so full of love, energy, excitement and plain old fun. That is what I like about so much of what you do, that they convey things that I can't with my photos. Brilliant, Fav
