Each January I began a book that takes a year to make. I use a company out of New York called "My Publisher" that makes large, hard cover photo books of excellent quality. This is my 6th year doing it. 2014 arrived yesterday! I chronicle our lives and include a variety of shots from different events that happen throughout the year. The program comes with many different collage formats which you can follow and/or modify yourself. You can have from one to 9 pictures on a page. I do a combination of pages with some including commentary and others not. I believe this link will let you see the entire book: https://www.mypublisher.com/bookshelf-legacy/apolloflash.py?e=OHm3Q8zJl3TFFA6zp7DI5nD6em3PzMzn
It REALLY is EASY! The software is free and you install it on your company and then just work on it throughout the year. I made the large book with a maximum of 100 pages but they do have smaller books as well which I've used for individual trips.
Awesome! I have finally made a slide show, and have yet to make any books, but this year, I will start making books. I've been making calendars at the end of the year as my Christmas present to family and some friends. Next year, I hope to make cards and calendars to sell. Thanks so much for this reference and link! I'll check it out. I've used Shutterfly for most of my books (but never for me!). :)
Great idea.. I have done one for my kids for Christmas a record of their year of them and husband/wife and their children.. I get a 2nd copy of each for me to keep.. the kids (grandies) love looking at them and seeing themselves in a book..
They're fantastic books, Kim. I'm so glad I've also started doing books - they're definitely worth it! I like your idea of working on it throughout the year... that makes a lot of sense!
I love that cover! We both are thinking alike :-) I spent all morning working on a video & I also need to do a 365 Year 3 digital album. I also went to My Publisher for Year 1 & 2. It's fun to do digital albums. I've made many in the past.
@mwest I LOVE my publisher. The program is simple and easy to use. You can drag and stretch photos out, add text boxes or make a collage in PIcMonkey and bring it over. I went for the lay flat pages and the top quality paper which is thick and bright. I've never used anyone else so I can't really compare quality. They aren't cheap to make but they have sales ALL the time so I just watch for the deal I want. Usually one that gives free extra pages because that's where the costs really add up.
I just made my first book with My Publisher and love it! Looks like you have a great collection. I love your cover on he 2014 book. I think it's so important that we keep printing our photographs.
The book looks great. I love my publisher too and use it for most of my books. I should to what you do and make it throughout the year so I don't have to do it all now. Then again, I do keep a folder of just my 365 photos on my computer so that makes it easier.
Love the cover of your photo book!! And, yes, My Publisher is my favorite company for making photo books, too! @darylo Daryl, I have found the quality of the My Publisher photo books to be head and shoulders above Shutterfly.....I like their formats, the ease and options of their software, the size and quality of their books and their papers, even the box that they come in! And, they are always running specials.... I have not done one in a while....I used to compile them from my travels.
Kim, your photo book is amazing and befits your beautiful photos! And, I think working on them all year is a great idea....sure takes the pressure out of cramming it at the last minute! Now, if I could just apply that logic to all the credits I need for my certificate! ;-((
A fabulous record. My daughter made a photo book of my first year on 365. It is a great record. I must do one for last year. I will fav this and check out the link later. Great job.
Such a great way to create a photo keepsake! I love My Publisher! I've done five or six of them of places I've traveled as well as wedding books.
It's a perfect way for 365ers to showcase their work.
I've done at least 25 photo books of various sorts - the last 3 years have been the full year compilations - and there's nothing more fun to complete or better way to keep your shots permanently. I've always used Shutterfly and been happy (excellent customer service), but I may look into My Publisher because I sure like what I see of your book. A fun thing to do for grandmas is to make one for each year as a grandchild grows - have a basic 20 page book for each year 3-15 of my granddaughter. Another book is family history shots - before they totally fade to nothing since some were the early 1900's.
This is great, KWind. I've had a book made for two of my four years here on 365. I keep wanting to do another one but haven't gotten to it yet. I did use My Publisher for one of them.
This is a beautiful project... I did click on the link (thank you) and what a great result. I am intrigued by this idea, so thanks also for the "how-to."
Fantastic idea and kudos for working on it through tout the year. I would wait until it was all done, then have to spend weeks on it. Great composition on this photo. I love your book. It turned out great!
How fantastic! Your photos are so amazing I am so glad to hear that you and your family can treasure them for years to come! A wonderful idea. Thank you for the information also.
Very, very nice book and photos!!! I have a company I use also that will also store your photos. It's called Shutterfly. I've have a few books made also with the hard covers and really love them!! FAV!
I am so glad you shared this, this is something I want to do. It is always good to have a recommendation from someone when it comes to who to use, and it seems as though you are not alone in your recommendation of them.
Thanks for the shared info about where you get your books published and the quality of their work. Your cover pictures are all just fantastic. You're an amazing photographer, Kim.
I've seen the Rapids play the Whitecaps twice. Both times, here in Denver, but Rapids won them both. :) But then, they lost the Intermountain Chamipionship to Real St Lake. :(
I am so glad you shared this, I have been thinking of doing a photo book for a while. I took a look at them and I liked what I saw, now to stop being lazy and have a go at one.
Wow great idea................I've been thinking of making a photo book of my husband's paintings since his birthday is coming up in a few months! Thanks for the reminder. Love your cover of your photo book Kim.
Great image and nice to share your photo book project. I do a photo book through Apple whenever there are special holidays or weekends to remember. I did a 'Houston' 3-year special when I left there as I wanted to give something personal to our neighbours and our landlord when we left. It's a great idea to do an annual book though - I may have to consider that! I'll check out 'My Publisher' too.
But I say oh no because of the Vancouver Whitecaps FC! I'm a Colorado Rapids fan!!!!!
