I bought myself some tulips yesterday and got out the macro lens. It's better on black.
I'll share a tip I learned at a macro workshop a couple of weeks ago. I used a syringe (I'm a diabetic so I had one on hand but you can buy them at the pharmacy) to place the water drop.
@taffy For macro stuff like this I use a tripod plus my remote trigger to minimize movement. I don't use one for the majority of my shots, they are just hand held.
Thanks for that big tip! I suppose a straw would be too big! Macro definitely needs a tripod or else you have to put the ISO up and that makes it not so clear like this beautiful shot! fav
This is spectacular! Love the colors and focus - and that water drop is so crystal clear. Fabulous. And thanks for the tip - great idea to get just one good drop. And love the crop. Fav
@maggiemae I shot in Aperature mode so the ISO was low. By using the tripod and trigger the camera slowed things down to focus without having to worry about movement.
@btwebb Another interesting thing was that the lady doing the workshop said she liked to use her 50m F1.4 plus extension tubes more than her dedicated macro lens.
Clever! Thanks for sharing the tip. I normally use a spray bottle, but that covers the entire plant then. This is great for when you want precision. Fabulous contrasting colours.
Beautiful macro.....thanks for the tip on the syringe....I had gone to a lecture by a wonderful macro photographer down here (Monica Royal), and she said she sprayed her flowers before a shoot. Also, yes, to tripods, no wind, and basically don't even breathe when taking the photos!
