Beach Finds

I'm a little worried... I walked the beach on the weekend and found close to 25 dead and dried out sea urchins. I hope there's not some disease killing them. I've only ever found a handful in the four years we've had the property so my find is definitely unusual. It was exciting to see the different varieties with their varied colours and textures. I also found a few deceased crabs and added them to the scene for colour.

This is lovely .. though not so good that excess sea urchins are dieing off.These are called Kina in NZ are a real delicacy amongst the Maori people.. they eat them raw straight out of the shell..

They live in a very clear and pure waters. So there is a small reason to worry... Hopefully it wasn't done on purpose for the sake of swimmers.

Beautiful shot. We love sea urchins and never find more than one or two. I hope nothing is wrong. Maybe check with Environment Canada? Poor things....
