Next few days will be Russia images... Our cruise ship docked for two full days in the city of St. Petersburg and we did an organized tour that took us to the main sights over two days. 10 hours each day! First stop was the Hermitage - I'm not an art person and really didn't care about the paintings - but the building was OVER the TOP! This was the grand staircase we entered. There's another level of steps you can't see in the image. The ceiling was super high and there was so much gold! The photo doesn't do it justice.
Fav. I have to go there, I've been wanting to for so many years but Christine does not like flights that take longer than 3 to 4 hours. I have heard of the beauty of the Hermitage. Thanks for sharing this shot and looking forward to see more. In the meantime enjoy your holiday.
I'd have to agree with you on the Baroque style paintings (I prefer the Impressionists) but it truly is an outstanding place in the art world. Good shot.
