This Lock needs Unlocking. by ladymagpie

This Lock needs Unlocking.

I've shown you quite a few locks on the Stroudwater canal that have been restored, but jut a few miles further on you can see how much work is needed to put the back in action.

This is Valley Lock in the Chalford Valley and I think it will be many years before they finally reach this place. All the work is completed by volunteers, with money raised by charitable donation. I'm so glad they spend their weekends putting like back into this canal.

Best viewed with the magnify button above the picture.
This is quite a different view from the other capture - glad you included this one...very interesting - this one does look like it has a long way to go. Nicely captured!

Good comparison between the neat line of beech hedge and the forlorn canal. Volunteers are a brilliant bunch of people!

I would volunteer to help, but the commute is a little difficult.:-)

Are there inspection to verify the solidity of the brickwork and all before they start to restore areas like that? Although, that may not be a deep as I think it is.
