A look around the Village. No. 8

Now I hope you will give me a little leeway as this is in the next town of Stonehouse just 1 mile from home. I moved to this town with my family when I was just 4 years old, and unfortunately it has grown considerable in my lifetime, not for the better.

I remember this Tudor Cottage, dating around 1610, as a private home and a little old lady lived here with a lovely garden. It was bought by a solicitors for many years until it again changed hands. Would you believe that for the past 15 years it's been a Tandoori Indian Takeaway.

It stands out in the center of the town because it has a large butchers shop to the right and a supermarket to the left. As for the little old ladies garden, it's now part of the supermarkets car park, such a shame.

Tudor Tandoori - how sad :( We also have some beautiful old houses in our town whose gardens have been stolen for carparks etc, and now just shops or the like. It really is sad. What a stunning house though! Thanks for sharing.

Oh this is so sad, it screams out to be a well loved home, I love the name of the road too. What were the council planners thinking letting the garden go into the car park, it will never be a house again now.
Such a beautiful building and a lovely photograph of it

@pittcj17 @claireuk Thank you both for your comments, it's been there since 1610, it will not be moved or beaten.

Lovely historical building...always sad when something green (like a garden) is replaced by something gray (like a parking lot)

Oh, I wish we could see the little old lady's garden. Thank you for sharing that history with us. It's a great building with a fresh coat of paint and you've captured it marvelously.
