I must be Florence Nightingale. by ladymagpie

I must be Florence Nightingale.

I hope everyone is aware of the name Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing. She came to prominence while serving as a nurse during the Crimean War, where she tended to wounded soldiers. She was known as "The Lady with the Lamp" after her habit of making rounds at night.

Well this is my lamp that has stood outside my backdoor for 30 years. So therefore can I call myself "The Lady with the Lamp", it's there to look after me on the dark nights. Do you know I have never had to clean it and more importantly have NEVER had to put a new bulb it, who else can claim that. - Mind you, saying that I must admit that I have never had it wired in, well I've got an emergency spot light that comes on if anything is about, great saving on bulbs for my Florence Nightingale Lamp though.
Sounds like the extractor fan above the cooker in our house when we moved in. Looked good but useful? No. Not wired in.

Definitely a good way to save money of light bulbs (which promise to last 5 years and go out after 5 months, like mine). Really like your choice of framing and the textures on this one - nicely captured!

So actually it is just a useless thing!! hahaha!! Yes, truly a good way to save money. We learned about Florence at school so know all about her. Super image, by the way!

This made me laugh. When I used to be on night duty, I used to have to walk around the wards with a little torch so that I could see all the bottles hanging from pipes out of different orifices to read how much leakage there had been. Flluid charts used to be added up at midnight so all the readings had to be taken at added up so that a new fluid chart could begin. I don't miss doing this at all
