Went up to my football club, Forest Green Rovers, to pick up a couple of items. The club has become famous for being vegan with not a piece of meat to be found anywhere. Gone are the burgers and meat pies to the horror of the supporters, yet surprisingly all the current foods of vegeburgers and chips with curry sauce has been enjoyed.
The pitch is called The New Lawn and is known as one of the best pitches in the Leagues. Again it is totally free of any pesticides and completely natural growth. It's feed with water collected from the roofs and stored in huge Tanks, you can see the automatic sprinklers working. There are solar panels on the stand roof and the grass is cut by a robotic mower that empties itself and goes back to it's charging point if it wants to be recharged.
Yes, there is a groundsman, who has received many awards, but he has less to do on the grass today and more on the surroundings, there is also wild flowers growing along the stadium driveway.
Hope That hasn't bored you and don't tell the Chairman that I still sneak in my Bovril drink (meat based).
