We all have fears and phobias, where like me might be snakes, spiders or rare items like feathers or even knees. I can copy with these smaller fears, but there is one that I'm terrified of, Dentists or a case of Odontophobia.
Well today was my 6 monthly check up and it takes me ages to get ready to go. Many visits to the bathroom as my stomach churns over and over again and the 6 mile journey on my own is terrifying, and to think this is just for a check up. Why can't I be put to sleep and taken by ambulance to my dentist which you can see in the photograph. (Taken after my visit I might add)
I go through the pain of being poked and stabbed and the great relieve when she says, "Not bad, just keep them clean and we will see you again in 6 months time". Hurrah, the delight of getting out of there and coming home with my next appointment card which I then pin on my noticeboard. Would you believe that when there's still 5 months to go, I will be staring at that noticeboard and panicking that a month has gone already.
Your dentist has a very lovely office. Glad all went well. I've never had a fear of dentists. The worst part for me is trying to get time off from work to go and then driving the half hhour or so across town.
I have a lovely dentist and so don't worry about going now. I went last week and he said "Keep up the good work and I'll see you in 6 months time" Hooray!
My fear too - it's the lack of control for me. Check my photo for 19 Jan - the dentist who has been catering to my needs for the last couple of years has left the practice, and I'm now with a very lovely chap, who let me take a shot in his surgery.

Nobody loves me,
Everybody hates me,
Sitting in the garden
Eating worms, yum, yum
Isn't it scary when they say on their sign that they are only practising?!? I want a dentist who knows what he is doing!
