As it's Sunday I thought I should go back to a church theme. It's also Mother's Day so I hope you have remembered yours and given them a treat, remember they will not always be with you. I was told off on Facebook this morning and reminded that in the UK we should call it Mothering Sunday, regardless of the name, my late Mother is in my thoughts.
In the very small village on the hilltops, everything is connected to the village church. Here, in the little village of Kingscote, St. John's church stands along side the notice board and the village war memorial where the villagers that fell in the wars are remembered.
I was brought here to find a geocache in the fields on the other side of the church. It was a lovely stroll through the lych gate and a footpath through the pretty churchyard. After finding the cache I returned to take this picture.
Interestingly, if you Google Kinscote, you will find the exact photograph, perhaps this is all there is in the village today. Best viewed with the dark background.
I love your descriptions and evocations of a traditional rural England, based around the parish church. I grew up in such a rural parish. Lovely photo. Sometimes I'd like the clock wound back to those years and still have my mother here. Fav, btw.
Great capture of a very English scene! Mother's day here is in May, however my English daughter in law has her mother our here at present so we celebrated with her on Saturday :)
Nice shot and I didn't realize you had mother's day too. Nice and a different time than our in the US Mother's day this year is May 10. My mother was born May 9th so it fell on her birthday sometimes.
Mother's Day in the NL is always the 2nd Sunday in May.
