Today I have brought you a building that is even older than I am, in fact it's almost the oldest building that I have ever seen. This is the Chapel of St. Mary Magdalene on the edge of the city of Gloucester. It was built around 1150 and was part of a small leper hospital. Again I was out geocaching when I found it in a little wooded area.
It originally was slightly bigger, but part of it was pulled down in 1861, as it was terrible derelict condition. Today it is a listed building and can't be touched or altered without permission.
There is a recumbent effigy of a young woman lying in the chapel. It's likely to represent one of the daughters of Humphrey de Bohun who died young in the 13th century - Margaret or Isabella was her name.
So there you have it, an old building found by an old pensioner using her old camera, forgot the newer one and didn't correct the date. (Taken in the future) View with the dark background.
Fantastic capture. While at my college reunion at the weekend I caught up with Bob Hunt who commentates on the Forest Green games for Radio Gloucestershire.
