What a lazy morning I've had, the prerogative of being a pensioner no less. The laptop has been on and I have been following a live auction in a town about 8 miles south of home. With the press of a key pad it was soon Going, Going, Gone on a couple of items. I just can't help myself.
So this afternoon it was a pleasant drive across the hilltops to the town of Wotton-under-Edge to collect my items, including a 1864 Scottish silver tablespoon. The auction house has been in this building since 1973 but was originally the Rowland Hill Tabernacle Chapel..
This chapel was founded between 1771-1783 with this current building being built on the site in 1850 using the Gothic style that was popular at the time. It's still got all the originate features inside which is a credit to the auction house.
Enough of this chatter, I've got to get the silver polish out. Best viewed with the dark background.
When I first read your title and viewed this capture, I thought perhaps the stress of getting these wonderful shots had driven you to buy a church (LOL) Seriously, quite the lovely capture. Sounds like you had a good day with the auction!
now hang on who is selling the Church silver !! are you like Scrooge counting your silver spoons at night Lol
look forward to the pictures and descriptions
Lovely old chapel building. Well done on your purchases. Could you say the website of the auctioneers, please? - thank you. PS Don't polish the silver too hard!
look forward to the pictures and descriptions
