Unusual Cotswold Cottage

The sun came out this morning even though we had a hard frost last night, so I decided to get out and about to find an unusual capture. The midday temperature still only reached 4 degrees so it was a brisk walk to this place that I had seen on a very old postcard.

You can see the width of this cottage that slowly widen's out as it goes back and this shape has give the property such an unusual name. How would you like to live in Coffin Cottage as the building resembles that form. It was once thought that an undertaker lived here, but it's more than likely the shape of the building that gave it it's name.

There is one thing for certain if you lived here, you would have to keep your medicine cabinet full, just in case you keep coughing. (Wink). Much better viewed with the dark surround.
Interesting building, I would love to tour inside!

A very interesting cottage Heather. Unusual in that the window takes up most of the front elevation. Looks in good condition!

It's not the cough that carried you off, it's the coffin they carried you off in!

Such an interesting cottage. Great narrative from you again Heather.
I love the old stonework. Reminds me of the stonework on my Nanna's house in Yorkshire.

Interesting little cottage. I like the roof sitting on top like a little hat. Good processing.

Quirky indeed. It would be a grave mistake to extend this building.
