I'm very lucky to live in a beautiful area with the fields and roadway surrounded in Cotswold stone walls. I have often wondered where all this lovely stones came from, until I spotted this bulge in one of the walls.
That's it I thought, these are living walls that give birth to new stones ready to build or repair other walls. This wall was obviously very heavily pregnant and rather close to giving birth to a very happy new stone.
I'm going to keep a close eye on it when I pass and hopefully catch the birth taking place.
Am I dreaming again or has to much wine made me stoned, there is one thing for certain, I've put on to many stones lately.
And no matter how many times it gets rebuilt, it will always sag right there. I have a spot on a retaining wall like that, was once a stream bed which is now full of gravel.
